Automatization of the curation process. Curatorial standards.
ACCA two curation levels
The blockchain data enables the automation of the curation process. We observe this as the first or basic level of autonomous curation. The auction curator selected by the community is responsible for creating a list of artists from the submissions received, including those they consider necessary to invite, even if the artist did not apply.
The criteria outlined for approval by the Auction House Curators Board provide a comprehensive framework for assessing and selecting artists. Here's an elaboration on each parameter:
Assessment of the artist's style: This involves evaluating the uniqueness, innovation, and coherence of the artist's style within the realm of digital art. It includes examining how the artist's visual language or techniques contribute to the overall impact and quality of their artworks.
Evaluation of the artist's developmental history: Understanding the artist's journey, evolution, and progression in their artistic practice is crucial. Assessing how their style, concepts, or technical skills have evolved over time can provide insights into their artistic maturity and growth.
Evaluation of the artist's exhibition activities: This parameter involves reviewing the artist's track record of exhibitions, both in terms of quantity and quality. It considers the significance of the venues, the reception of their works by critics and audiences, and the impact of these exhibitions on the artist's career trajectory.
Assessment of the artist's influence on the development of digital art: Recognizing the artist's contributions to the field of digital art beyond their artworks is important. This includes assessing their impact through writings, publications, lectures, or other forms of engagement that have influenced the discourse or advancement of digital art.
Estimation of the potential growth in the value of the artist's work: Predicting the potential appreciation in the value of the artist's work requires considering various factors, such as market trends, demand for similar artworks, the artist's reputation, and their trajectory in the art world.
Artist price strategy: Understanding the artist's approach to pricing their work is crucial. This involves analyzing their pricing methodology, consistency, and how it aligns with the quality, demand, and positioning of their artworks in the market.
Additionally, exclusive contracts for promoting specific artists may be offered, leading to author exhibitions in the auction house space.
